The different penetration depth throughout the tissue in the SWIR and VIS contributes to smoother-looking pores and skin when compared to the UV. The latter enhances surface area construction and melanin pigment absorption characteristics close to the surface, giving increase to photographs displaying “outdated and aged facial pores and skin.”
